Minamadali na ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) para matapos na ang concrete flood wall sa bayan ng Vintar, Ilocos Norte.
Ayon kay DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, ang 258-meter flood control structure na matatagpuan sa Bislak River sa Barangay San Ramon ay inaasahang matatapos ngayong Oktubre.
Nabatid na ang nasabing proyekto ay pinondohan ng P48.36 milyon mula sa 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) kung saan naglagay ng driving sheet piles, rock embankment, at pagbuhos ng concrete slope protection.
“With the completion of this new concrete flood wall, we are expecting to reduce the detrimental effects of flood in the low-lying residential areas,” sabi ni Tan.
Sinabi naman ni DPWH Ilocos Norte First District Engineer Glenn C. Miguel na ang proyekto ay inaasahang makapagbibigay ng tulong sa ekonomiya ng nasabing lalawigan dahil sa maproproteksyunan na ang agricultural lands at lokal na industriya mula sa pagbaha.
Taong 2019, nang isailalim ang bayan ng Vintar sa state of calamity dahil sa landslides at malawakang pagbaha dulot ng Tropical Storm Ineng.
