Pinuri ni House Speaker Martin G. Romualdez si Interior and Local Government Sec. Benhur Abalos at ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa pagkakadakip sa isang suspek sa pagpatay sa media broadcaster na si Percival Mabasa, mas kilala bilang Percy Lapid.
“We in the House of Representatives welcome this positive development in the unfortunate crime that took the life of Percy Lapid. We applaud the efforts of SILG Abalos and the police to swiftly resolve the case,” ayon kay Romualdez.
Aniya, dahil sa mabilis at matagumpay na pagkakadakip sa itinuturong gunman ni Lapid ay madali na ring mahuhuli ang iba pang nasa likod nito.
“And the arrest of a suspect in the shooting of Lapid is indeed a welcome development. We hope that this arrest leads to the apprehension of the other suspects in the gruesome murder of Lapid and the resolution of the case,” ayon pa sa lider ng Kamara.
“The protection of members of the Fourth Estate is of paramount importance as they play a vital role in nation-building,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.
Si Lapid na binaril at napatay noong nakalipas na Oktubre 3 sa Las Piñas City habang lulan ng sasakyan nito.
Nakilala ang self-confessed gunman na si Joel Estorial, 39-anyos, ng Quezon City na iniharap ni Abalos at ng PNP sa pulong balitaan sa Camp Crane.
Una nang naglaan ang Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ng P5 milyon na reward mula sa personal money ng mga kongresista para sa anumang impormasyon para sa ikadarakip ng mga pumatay kay Lapid.
