Kasabay ng pag-alala sa ika-9 na taon matapos ang pananalasa ng bagyong Yolanda ay nagkaloob ang pamahalaan ng tulong sa mga residente ng lalawigan ng Tacloban.
Personal na tinungo ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at ni House Speaker Martin G. Romualdez ang Leyte Academic Center sa Palo, Leyte, para mamahagi ng government assistance at pagbibigay ng kagamitan at emergency vehicles sa mga local government units (LGUs) at eskuwelahan.
“Thank you for your presence here today, as we gather for the ceremonial turnover of financial and other forms of assistance to our people from various agencies of our national government,” sabi ni Romualdez.
“The helping hand extended by our national government could not have come at a more opportune time for our province has been visited recently by successive storms that made life even more difficult for many of our people,” dagdag nito.
Si Marcos at si Romualdez ay sinamahan din nina Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez at Jude Acidre na nanguna sa pamamahagi ng 100 units ng laptops mula sa Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), na ibinigay sa Department of Education (DepEd) na tumukoy sa mga benepisyaryo ng Tech4ED program.
Aabot din sa 20 ambulansya mula sa Department of Health (DoH) ang ibinigay sa local government units sa ilalim ng Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP)
Namahagi rin ng financial aid ang Department of Agriculture (DA) na P5,000 sa 1,200 farmer-beneficiaries sa ilalim ng Rice Farmer Financial Assistance program.
Maliban dito, nagkaloob din ang DA ng disinfection truck sa provincial government ng Southern Leyte at sa munisipalidad ng Allen, Northern Samar.
Nabigyan din ng cash aid ang 300 benepisyaryo ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), habang may kabuuang 200 mamamayan ang nakatanggap ng tig-P5,250 mula sa Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).
“We are fortunate and truly grateful that the current administration is not blind to our people’s plight and has seen fit to help us,” sabi ni Romualdez.
