Pinuri ni Tingog party list Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez ang sama-samang pagsisikap ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso, ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon City, at ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) na tulungan ang mga biktima ng karahasan na nakabatay sa kasarian, partikular na ang empleyado ng Kamara at mga miyembro ng kanilang pamilya.
Nabuo ito nang lumagda ang Kamara sa isang Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) kasama ang Quezon City Protection Center (QCPC) sa ilalim ng tanggapan ni Mayor Joy Belmonte, at ang IBP-QC Chapter para magbigay ng legal, psychological, at shelter assistance sa mga biktima sa Romualdez Hall ng Kamara.
Sa pagsasalita sa ngalan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, nagpahayag ng pasasalamat si Rep. Romualdez sa paglagda ng makasaysayang kasunduan ng tatlong partido.
“I am very much honored to witness and be a part of this historic signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by the House of Representatives, the Quezon City Local Government, and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Quezon City Chapter, to provide comprehensive and holistic support to House employees who are victims or survivors of gender-based violence,” sabi ni Romualdez.
“The Speaker and I express our full support for this undertaking. It fills me with pride to be a part of an institution that values the welfare of its employees and ensures that they receive the best care and support when they need it the most,” dagdag pa nito.
Nabanggit din nito na sa pamamagitan ng pagsasama-sama ng kanilang mga mapagkukunan, ang partido ay lumilikha ng isang malakas na network upang magbigay ng napapanahong interbensyon para sa mga empleyado ng Kamara at kanilang mga anak na nagdusa o nagdurusa pa rin mula sa mga epekto ng karahasan at pang-aabuso.
“I am confident that this MOU will be the foundation for a very strong partnership among the House, the Quezon City Local Government, and the IBP in addressing and preventing gender-based violence,” ayon pa kay Romualdez.
Kinilala rin nito ang tulong ng ilang mahalagang indibiduwal para malagdaan ang tripartite agreement kabilang sina BHW party list Rep. Angelica Co, chairperson ng Committee on Welfare of Children; Laguna 1st District Rep. Lourdes Matibag, senior vice-chairperson ng Committee on Women and Gender Equality; Quezon City Councilor Eleanor “Doc Ellie” Juan, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco, Atty. Annalou Nachura, Deputy Secretary General ng House Legal Affairs Department; Atty. Michael Atanante, Pangulo ng IBP QC Chapter; at Atty. Melissa Encanto-Tagarda, incoming president ng IBP-QC.
Ang MOU ay nilagdaan sa ngalan ng Kamara ni Velasco, Atty. Atanante para sa IBP-QC chapter at Councilor Juan para naman s QCPC.
Sa ilalim ng MOU, bibigyan ng Kamara ang mga empleyado nito at kanilang mga anak na biktima ng karahasan na nakabatay sa kasarian ng ligtas at suportang kapaligiran at kultura sa trabaho, access sa mga hotline at psychological at psychiatric counselling at therapy, kasama ng mga serbisyong medikal at pangangalagang pangkalusugan at sa iba pa.
Ang IBP QC-Chapter ang mag-aasikaso ng kinakailangang legal na tulong, habang ang QCPC ay magbibigay ng ligtas at emergency shelter services gayundin ng mga programa para sa pagpapagaling, pagbawi, rehabilitasyon, at muling pagsasama ng mga biktima.
“Today’s (Monday) ceremonial signing stands as another clear statement that the House of Representatives does not only talk and make policy – we also walk the talk, and act as needed, providing immediate solutions to the problems at hand, always in the best interests of the Filipino people,” sa mensahe ni Speaker Romualdez sa MOU signing.
“Let me assure everyone now: so long as I am Speaker, the House of Representatives shall remain a safe workspace for everyone,” aniya pa.
Gayundin, sinabi nito na nasa hinaharap ang mas malaking hamon ng pagtatatag ng isang lipunan kung saan ang dignidad ng bawat tao ay pinahahalagahan, at ang buong paggalang sa karapatang pantao ay ginagarantiyahan at wala nang biktima ng anumang uri ng karahasan.
“Let us not be mere spectators. Let us be active partners in bringing about a society where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, has equality, security, and safety not only in private, but also on the streets, public spaces, online, workplaces, and educational and training institutions, and in all areas of human interaction. Together, we can do this,” ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez.
