SIM card registration pabilisin

Nanawagan si Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez na gawing simple, mas maginhawa at mas mabilis na proseso ng pagpaparehistro ng subscriber identity modules (SIMs) ng milyun-milyong hindi pa rin rehistradong lehitimong gumagamit ng mobile phone.
Aniya dapat na magtulungan ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) at ang tatlong telecommunications companies (telcos) na nagbibigay ng cellular phone services sa naturang proseso.
“Let us help millions of Filipinos who have mobile phones, but who still have not registered their SIMs as required by law, to register. Let us make it easier for them to take advantage of the 90-day registration extension granted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” sabi nito.
Nagpasalamat si Romualdez kay Pangulong Marcos sa pagpapalawig sa listahan ng deadline para sa milyun-milyong hindi pa rin rehistradong gumagamit ng mobile phone.
“In particular, let us assist overseas Filipino workers and their families to register. Their mobile phones are their principal means of communicating and connecting to each other. The thought that they could instantly make audio-video calls eases the pain of being thousands of miles away from home and from their loved ones,” sabi pa nito.
Dapat aniyang tulungan ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang DICT, NTC at telcos na ipaalam sa mga OFWs at kanilang pamilya ang pangangailangan sa pagpaparehistro.
“I suspect that OFW families in the provinces are finding it difficult to comply with the registration requirement. Some may even be unaware of it,” ayon pa kay Romualdez.
Sinabi pa ni Romualdez na naniniwala ito na maraming OFWs at kanilang mga pamilya sa bahay ang gumagamit ng mga unlisted prepaid SIM dahil sa kaginhawaan ng pagkuha ng mga ito.
Pinuri ng pinuno ng Kamara ang mga telcos sa pag-aalok ng tulong sa pagpaparehistro at mga mekanismo para makapaglista ang kanilang mga postpaid at prepaid SIM users.
Ayon sa mga ulat, noong Abril 23, tatlong araw bago ang orihinal na deadline ng pagpaparehistro noong Abril 26 ay pinalawig ng Pangulo, nasa 82.8 milyong may-ari ng SIM ang nagparehistro.
Sa 82.8 milyong nagparehistro, 39.9 milyon ang nagpatala sa Smart Communications, 37.09 milyon sa Globe Telecom at 5.79 milyon sa DITO Telecommunity Corp.
May mga ulat din na ang tatlong telcos ay nakapagbenta ng kabuuang 165 milyon na 170 million SIM cards.
Umapela si Romualdez sa mga telcos na ihayag ang bilang ng kanilang postpaid mobile phone subscribers at ang kabuuang bilang ng mga active unlisted SIM na kanilang naibenta.
“Their combined data should give us, the public, an idea of how many SIMs, postpaid and prepaid, need to be registered,” aniya pa.
