Senado at Kamara pinuri sa pagpasa sa SIM Card Registration bill

Pinuri ni Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte si House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez at Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri sa pagsisiguro na maipapasa sa lalong madaling panahon ang SIM Card Registration bill

 “We commend congressional leaders led by Speaker Martin and Senate President Migz (Zubiri) for delivering on their earlier agreement in a caucus  to pass before our first legislative break this October the bill requiring the mandatory registration of SIM (subscriber identification module) cards of both postpaid and prepaid celfone subscribers,” sabi ni Villafuerte, pangulo ng National Unity Party (NUP).

Inilabas ni Villafuerte ang pahayag matapos na maipasa ng Kamara sa pamamagitan ng botong 250-6 na may 1 abstention ang consolidated measure na “SIM Card Registration Act,” sa pinagsamang  House Bill (HB) 14, na inihain ni Romualdez at Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Tingog Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez at Jude Acidre.

Gayundn, ang tatlong HB 2113 na iniakda nina Camarines Sur 5th district Rep. Miguel Luis Villafuerte, Camarines Sur 1st District Rep. Tsuyoshi Anthony Horibata, at Bicol Saro Rep. Nicasio Enciso VIII.

Samantala, sa nasabi ring araw ay ipinasa ng Senado ang Senate Bill No. 1310.

Nabatid na nagkasundo ang dalawang lider ng Kongreso na noong Setyembre 8 caucus na ipasa bago ang first legislative break ng 19th Congress ang pagpapaliban ng Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections na dapat ay sa Disyembre 5, 2022 na magiging sa Disyembre 4, 2023 at ang mandatory registration ng SIM cards.

 “The swift congressional passage of the proposed SIM Card Registration Act is a must for the 19th Congress to better protect all mobile phone  subscribers  against the barrage of phone-based scams like smishing, particularly now when digital tricksters have managed to get more personal information, including the actual names of celfone users they intend to swindle,” ani Villafuerte.
