Pinagtibay ng Kamara ang isang resolusyon na nagpapahayag ng pakikiramay sa mga naulilang pamilya ng mga namatay sa pananalasa ng nagdaang severe tropical storm Paeng.
“The House of Representatives commiserates with and offers its collective effort and initiatives to comfort and help the bereaved families who are left behind so they can move on with their lives and start anew,” sa House Resolution (HR) No. 505 na pinagtibay ng mga kongresista ngayong araw.
Nakasaad din sa resolusyon na ang mga miyembro ng Kamara na sama-sama at indibidwal na bumangon upang harapin ang mga hamon ng kaluwagan at rehabilitasyon ng mga lugar na sinalanta ng bagyo, sa pamamagitan ng pagsasama-sama ng mga indibidwal na pangako para sa layunin ng pagbibigay ng pinansyal at lahat ng iba pang uri ng tulong sa mga biktima ng bagyong Paeng.
“The numerous loss of lives, the extensive damage to government infrastructure and private properties, and the adverse impact caused by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng to the livelihood of the people who are still reeling from the vestiges of the COVID-19 pandemic, call for immediate assistance from the government and the private sector to support the recovery and rehabilitation of the affected areas and people,” ayon pa sa mga mambabatas.
Ang House resolution ay pinanukala ni House Speaker Martin G. Romualdez at nina House Majority Leader at Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe, House Minority Leader at 4Ps party-list Rep. Marcelino Libanan, senior Deputy Majority Leader at Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” A. Marcos, Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez at Jude A. Acidre.
Base sa pinakahuling datos ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), nasa 121 ang nasawi; 2.4 milyon katao o 741,777 pamilya sa 70 probinsya sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao ang nawalan ng tahanan at nananatiling nasa mga evacuation centers.
