Iginiit ng isang kongresista na dapat ay agad na inaresto at dinakip si Jose Rizal University player John Amores dahil sa pananakit nito sa ginanap na basketball game ng National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA).
“The San Juan City PNP should investigate yesterday’s violent incident during the NCAA game between the basketball teams of the College of St. Benilde and Jose Rizal University. This is a police matter—a matter of public order and security at a public venue,” sabi ni Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua.
Sinabi pa nito na mistulang walang mga patakaran at regulasyon na namamahala sa interbensyon ng pulisya sa panahon ng mga marahas na insidente tulad ng larong ito ng basketball at iba pang mga sports events.
Giit pa ni Chua na isang imbestigasyon ang dapat na mangyari laban kay Amores sa kadahilanang dalawang manlalaro ng College of St. Benilde ang nasugatan.
“JRU player John Amores was “in flagrante delicto”, actually committing crimes during the game. If the law was followed strictly, the San Juan PNP personnel on duty at the venue should have immediately arrested John Amores there and then, or citizen’s arrest should have been done. It seems neither happened,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
“I ask the concerned mayors of the venues of these basketball events to direct their local police departments to always deploy PNP personnel at the venues, especially at the courtside. The PNP should be there also for crowd control and should be supervising the private security personnel deployed at the venues,” dagdag pa ni Chua.
