Minamadali na ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang pagsasaayos ng flood control structure sa Pampanga River upang maprotektahan ang mga komunidad sa Nueva Ecija sa pagbaha.
Sinabi ni DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan na base sa ulat na pinadala ni DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, na kasalukuyang isinasaayos ang 323.2-lineal meter slope protection structure sa Barangay Magsalisi sa bayan ng Jaen.
May nakalaang kabuuang P62.3 milyon, ang pagpapatupad ng flood control project ay nasa pangangalaga ng DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office (DEO).
Ang pagtatayo ng flood control project ay nagsimula noong Abril 2022, na may accomplishment rate na 83.04 percent noong Oktubre 2022.
Target na makumpleto sa Enero 2023, ang slope protection structure ay magpoprotekta sa mga residential areas at agricultural lands sa mga bayan ng Jaen, San Isidro, at Sta. Rosa sa Nueva Ecija mula sa pag-apaw ng tubig mula sa ilog na dala ng malakas na pag-ulan sa panahon ng tag-ulan at bagyo.
“The flood mitigation structure is expected to prevent riverbank erosion that will improve the waterway in this part of the Pampanga River, which is considered as one the major river basins in the country,” sabi pa ni Bonoan.
