Nakumpleto na ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang P96 milyong halaga ng flood control project sa lalawigan ng Zamboanga.
Ang bagong revetment structure na ginawa ng DPWH ay naglalayong protektahan ang mga residente at komunidad ng Zamboanga City mula sa pag-apaw ng ilog sa panahon ng malakas na pag-ulan.
Sa kanyang ulat kay DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan at Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr., sinabi ni DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia na tinitiyak na ngayon ng mga bagong itinayong istruktura ang kaligtasan ng humigit-kumulang 17,000 residente sa Sitio Latap sa Barangay Limpapa at Sitio Miluao, Barangay Patalon.
Kasama sa proyekto ang pagtatayo ng 6-meter grouted riprap na may rubble concrete foundation sa Barangay Limpapa at 6.5 meters sa Barangay Patalon.
“With the completion of this flood control structure, we are hoping to mitigate the degradation of the two riverbeds, Latap River and Miluao River, and prevent damage to infrastructure and agriculture brought by typhoons,” ayon kay Dia.
May kabuuang P96.8-milyon na inilaan sa ilalim ng 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) at 2021 Regular Local Infrastructure Program (RLIP) para sa pagtatayo ng 1.4-kilometrong istraktura.
