Pinuri ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri ang Department of Justice (DOJ) at Philippine National Police (PNP) sa mabilis na aksyon ng mga ito sa kaso ng mga sangkot sa fraternity hazing na ikinasawi ni John Matthew Salilig.
Ayon kay Zubiri, ang parusa laban sa pitong miyembro ng Tau Gamma Phil ay patunay lamang na gumagana ang Anti-Hazing Law.
“I thank the Department of Justice for its swift action on the case of John Matthew Salilig, indicting seven fraternity members linked to his death. I also thank the Philippine National Police for being hot on the trail of the suspects. Our law enforcement agencies’ quick and firm action and apprehension is the best deterrent to crime,” sabi ni Zubiri.
Aniya, dapat na itong magsilbing babala sa mga fraternities at malaman ang parusa sa lalabag sa Anti-Hazing Law.
“This serves as a cold warning to our fraternities that the Anti-Hazing Law is at work, and that when you commit a crime, the long arm of the law will find you and justice will be served,” ayon pa dito.
“Sa mga pasaway at patuloy na nagsasagawa ng hazing, sinisiguro ko sa inyong wala kayong ligtas sa Anti-Hazing Law. Haharapin ninyo rin ang batas, at mabubulok din kayo sa kulungan,” sabi pa ni Zubiri.
