Pinuri ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez si Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez at Senador Robinhood Padilla na pumasok sa isang kasunduan sa usapin ng isinusulong na pag-amiyenda sa Konstitusyon ng dalawang Kapulungan ng Kongreso.
“I commend the efforts of Rep. Gomez and Sen. Robinhood Padilla in trying to forge an agreement between the House of Representatives and the Senate on this issue,” sabi ng lider ng Kamara
Ayon pa kay Romualdez, handa ang Kamara na makipagdiskusyon sa mga senador kung ano ang dapat na gamitin sa pag-amiyenda ng Konstitusyon.
“This was what I relayed to Rep. Richard Gomez when he informed me that senators are amenable to economic amendments but through Constituent Assembly,” ayon pa dito.
“What the House of Representatives approved was the Constitutional Convention mode of amending the restrictive provisions that prohibit the entry of foreign investments. If the Senate wants a different mode, that is their discretion. The House leadership, however, is willing to open discussions with the Senate on their preferred mode of amending the Constitution if that will lead to an agreement between the two chambers,” paliwanag pa ni Romualdez.
Handa aniya ito na ikonsidera ang panukala ng Senado at isusumite ito sa mga miyembro ng Kamara.
Sa ginanap na pulong balitaan, sinabi ni Gomez na 300 kongresista ang pumirma para amiyendahan ang Konstitusyon sa pamamagitan ng Constitutional Convention (Con-con).
“In front of all the leadership of the different parties in the HOR sinabi ko sumasang-ayon ayon ang Senado pero ang position nila ay Constitutional Assembly. Natuwa si Speaker Romualdez na gumagalaw ang Senado and we are very happy about it,” sabi pa ni Gomez.
Nang usisain si Gomez kung susuportahan ng mga kongresista ang ConAss ng Senado ay sinabi nitong posibleng mauwi na lamang sa bicam ang usapin.
“Kasi ang proseso ng HOR pag di pareho ang hakbang naming in this case sa Con-con kami and the Senate ConAss, pag di pareho ang lakbay namin, magkikita kami sa Bicam. They will come out with a resolution,” sabi pa ng kongresista.
