Suportado ng mga senador ang pagkakatalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. kina Gibo Teodoro at Ted Herbosa para pamunuan ang Department of National Defense (DND) at Department of Health (DOH).
Nagkakaisa sina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva,
Senador Jinggoy Estrada, at Senador Grace Poe sa pahayag na nagtitiwala ang mga ito sa kakayahan nina Teodoro at Herbosa para punan ang pagiging kalihim ng DND at DOH.
“I welcome and fully support the President’s appointments of Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro and Health Secretary Ted Herbosa. Sec. Teodoro is a tried and tested public servant, and we trust that he will head the Department of Defense most capably, particularly amidst this atmosphere of brewing tensions in our waters. And we are happy to see the Department of Health helmed by an experienced public health expert. Sec. Herbosa’s appointment comes at an opportune time, with our Regional Specialty Centers Act having just gotten bicameral approval, and we are hopeful that he will spearhead a truly whole-of-nation approach in the improvement of our public health services,” pahayag ni Zubiri.
Idinagdag pa nito na sina Teodoro at Herbosa na pinili ng Pangulo ay magandang balita lalo na sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon na usapin ang territorial integrity at ang pagbangon ng bansa mula sa pandemya.
Ayon naman kay nagpasalamat ito kina dating DOH officer in charge Maria Rosario Vergeire at dating DND Sec. Carlito Galvez sa naging ambag nito para mapabuti ang sitwasyon ng bansa sa panunungkulan ng mga ito.
Naniniwala rin aniya ito kina Teodoro at Herbosa sa kakayahan para pamunuan ang DND at DOH.
Sabi naman ni Estrada, naaayon ang pagkakatalaga kay Teodoro sa DND para maipagpatuloy ang
stability, expertise, effective coordination, policy implementation, accountability, at representation sa defense and security matters.
“These contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the defense sector in safeguarding the nation’s security. As the third civilian to be appointed as permanent DND chief since 1986, Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro, has the best credentials, not to mention, the experience, to handle the position which deals with complex and long-term security issues, having been designated to the same position in 2007 to 2009. On top of all these, he’s a licensed commercial pilot, Air Force reservist and a bar topnotcher,” aniya pa.
“I am optimistic that his experience and expertise in defense matters will ensure informed decision-making and effective management of defense affairs, particularly on security challenges. I’m hoping that outgoing DND Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. will continue to be of service under the present administration as he has proven to be highly capable and dependable even with a wide range of responsibilities. He deserves commendation for his exemplary service and contributions to the country, having played a pivotal role in leading the country’s response to the global health crisis,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi naman ni Poe na ngayong may kalihim na ang DND at DOH sa katauhan nina Teodoro at Herbosa ay magagamit ang kanilang expertise at kasanayan.
“The new Secretaries are crucial in deciding and implementing strategies in addressing the various health issues we are facing and in upholding the country’s territorial integrity against various threats. Focus and commitment on the job coupled with straight and true service will fortify our health and defense sectors and deliver the services our people deserve,” sabi nito.
