Boracay island muling dinadagsa ng mga lokal at dayuhang turista — solon

Kumpiyansa si Aklan 2nd District Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr., na tuluyan nang makakabalik ang ekonomiya sa Boracay island at sa maging sa buong bansa dahil sa pagdagsa muli ng mga lokal at dayuhang turista.

Ayon sa kongresista, base sa ulat ng municipal tourism office ng bayan ng Malay sa Aklan, dumadagsa muli ang mga foreign tourists sa isla kung saan umakyat na sa 69 porsiyento ang itinaas ng tourist arrivals.

Nakapagtala ang tourism office ng 6,873 turista noong buwan ng Hunyo mula sa 4,268 na naitala noong Mayo at  4,737 noong Abril, at 2,533 naman noong Marso.

“The revival of the tourism industry, especially of famed destinations like Boracay Island, will be key to providing more local jobs and boosting our economic recovery,” sabi ni Haresco.

Noong 2019, nakapagtala ang tourism industry ng 12.8 porsiyentong pagtaas sa Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ng bansa ngunit ayon kay Haresco dahil sa ipinatupad na international travel restrictions dahil sa pandemya ay bumagsak sa 5.4 porsiyento ang kontribusyon sa ekonomiya noong 2020.

Naitala ang employment in tourism industries sa 4.68 milyon noong 2020, o katumbas ng 11.9% ng kabuuang employment. Ito ang pinakamababang kontribusyon ng tourism sector sa GDP matapos bumagsak ang tourism employment mula 5.72 milyon noong 2019.

“After enduring two years of travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, Boracay Island has allowed local tourists to enter in September 2021, and foreign tourists in February 2022, contributing to the early recovery of the economy,” ayon pa kay Haresco.

Karamihan ng mga turistang dumarating sa Boracay island ay nagmumula sa United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Singapore, at Korea.

Samantala, nakatulong din ang domestic tourism kung saan noon Marso ay umakyat sa 111,022 ang naitalang bilang na mas mataas sa 80,095 na naitala noong Pebrero.

“The challenge for us now is to continue to strictly enforce health and safety protocols to protect both locals and tourists from COVID-19 while keeping holistic and comprehensive efforts to expand tourism recovery and build back the economy better,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
