Pinuri ni Senate Committee on Health at Senador Christopher “Bong” Go si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa utos nito sa Department of Health (DOH) na unahin ang paglaban sa tuberculosis at human immunodeficiency virus infections maliban pa sa COVID-19.
“It is important to continue the fight against HIV and TB infections, even as we focus on the ongoing battle against COVID-19. These infections can have serious consequences for individuals and communities, and addressing them is crucial for the overall health and well-being of our population,” sabi ni Go.
“By making the campaign against HIV and TB infections a priority, we can ensure that the necessary resources are allocated to prevent and treat these conditions, and protect vulnerable individuals from their devastating effects,” dagdag nito.
Nauna nang iniutos ni Marcos sa DOH na muling tumutok sa mga alalahanin sa kalusugan ng publiko kabilang ang paglaban sa mga impeksyon sa HIV at TB, kasabay ng kampanya laban sa COVID-19.
Samantala, ang isang survey na isinagawa ng independent research group na OCTA Research ay lumabas na hindi bababa sa 70% ng mga nasa hustong gulang na Pilipino ay nalulugod sa pagganap ng mga programa ng kasalukuyang administrasyon na may kaugnayan sa pangangalagang pangkalusugan.
Sa resulta ng Tugon ng Masa survey na isinagawa mula Oktubre 23 hanggang Oktubre 27, 2022, ipinakita na 73 porsiyento ng mga respondents ay kuntento sa kalidad at maaayos na pagpapatupad ng health care sa bansa.
“Habang tayo po ay bumabangon mula sa epekto ng COVID-19, sang-ayon po ako kay Pangulong Marcos na dapat na rin nating pagtuunan ng pansin ang iba pang public health threats na maaaring makaapekto sa ating mga mamamayan maliban sa pandemya,” giit ni Go.
“We must start to prioritize general public health to promote the overall health and well-being of the Filipino people. We must ensure our preparedness for potential health threats and take preventative steps to protect them from these threats,” aniya pa.
Samantala, alinsunod sa kanyang adbokasiya na pahusayin ang sistema ng pangangalagang pangkalusugan sa bansa, naghain si Go ng ilang health-related measures, kabilang ang Senate Bill No. 189 na naglalayong magbigay ng libreng taunang medical check-up para sa lahat ng Pilipino.
Ang iba pang mga hakbang na may kaugnayan sa kalusugan ay bumubuo rin sa bulto ng mga priority bill ni Go na inihain sa 19th Congress.
Kabilang dito ang SBN 190 na nag-uutos sa Philippine Health Insurance Corporation na sagutin ang lahat ng gastos sa dialysis treatments, sessions at procedures na ginawa sa mga health facility na kinikilala ng PhilHealth; SBN 195 at 196 na naglalayong itatag ang Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at Virology Institute of the Philippines; SBN 191 o ang Advanced Nursing Education Bill; SBN 421 na nagtatag ng isang Emergency Medical Services System; ang SBN 427 na nagbibigay ng mga benepisyo at kompensasyon sa mga Barangay Health Workers; at SBN 428 na naglalayong magtatag ng Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center sa buong bansa.
“It is our job in the government to ensure that everyone has access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. A strong healthcare system can help to prevent and control the spread of diseases, and it can also play a key role in promoting public health and reducing healthcare disparities,” sabi pa ni Go.
“It can also help to support economic growth and development by enabling individuals to live healthier, more productive lives. Ultimately, strengthening our healthcare system is essential for the overall health and well-being of our society,” dagdag pa nito.
