Bunsod ng kaliwa’t kanang batikos na nababalot na katiwalian sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at sa pantalan na ang biktima ay mga human smuggling, nilusaw na ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang opisina ng Port Operations Division (POD).
Magugunitang kinatigan ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla ang rekomendasyon ni BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco na magpatupad ng reorganisasyon at pag-streamline sa operasyon ng BI sa NAIA.
“This will remove the centralized authority over all airports, as well as empower and exact accountability on the BI airport terminal heads, who are now directly responsible over the operation and management of their respective terminals,” sabi ni Tansingco.
Aminado ito na ang POD ay may tinatawag na ‘complex organizational system’ kung saan may mga magkakatulad at overlapping ang trabaho ng mga BI personnel.
“Through this way, we will have a leaner management system, and would be able to pinpoint problems, as well as properly commend those doing a good job,” sabi ng opisyal.
Ayon pa kay Tansingco isinumite nito ang rekomendasyon sa DOJ noong nakalipas na Pebrero 2.
“We are thankful for the support of SOJ in our proposal. We appreciate that he has seen the wisdom of reorganizing this problematic system, that needs new solutions,” sabi pa ni Tansingco.
